WP3: Improving culture efficiency of already isolated and cultured microorganism
Type of activity: RTD

Objectives: To improve the cultivation efficiency of existing and newly isolated marine microorganisms with proven/suspected biotechnological potential but with low growth efficiencies or bioactive metabolites production. This includes the (high-throughput) optimization of culture media and cultivation conditions (e.g. using the MicroDish), systems mimicking the natural environment, new substrates, syntrophy, mixed cultures for greater stability, smart use of cell-to-cell communication. To develop efficient harvesting protocols for organisms with biotech potential.
