Objectives:
- To obtain sequence information from selected metagenomic libraries with the aim to identify uncultured microorganisms with potential biotechnological applications and to develop strategies to isolate these.
- To sequence newly isolated microorganisms with biotechnological potential and to develop strategies to optimize their growth and production of the target compound(s) or to genetically enhance these organisms.
- Determination of selected transcriptomes and metatranscriptomes to identify rate-limiting steps in the regulation of expression and metabolite production.
