Consortium
The MaCuMBA consortium consists of 22 participants and SMEs and industry make a significant part of the consortium, ensuring that the project focuses on the interests of these partners. Nine partners are small and medium enterprises (SMEs), there is one industry partner, one institute for applied research and one large culture collection. The other 11 participants are academic, both universities and institutes for fundamental scientific research. The participants come from 11 different nations and were selected based on their excellence and expertise.
The scientific and market expertise of the participating groups is complementary and non-overlapping and covers all aspects necessary to achieve the challenging goals of MaCuMBA, from sampling the natural environment, use of collections, isolation novel microorganisms and improving culture efficiency, to the development of methods, equipment and enhanced bio-discovery for commercial exploitation by the consortium.
